About Gogebic County Transit

The Gogebic County Transit has provided public transportation to the residents of Gogebic County since we were organized on November 28, 1990. We are incorporated as a non-profit, non-stock corporation pursuant to State of Michigan Public Act 196 of 1986 and partner with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). We operate under the direction of a Board of Directors, which consist of five members.  Three of our members are from the public at large and two of the members are from the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners.  All members of our board are appointed by the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners for a three-year term.  The Gogebic County Transit operates as an Enterprise Fund of Gogebic County.

We offer on demand service to all Gogebic County residents with a fleet of 7 buses.  All of our buses are equipped with lifts that can accommodate any assistance device from walkers to wheelchairs.  The inside of our buses are clean, and heated or air conditioned depending on the outside temperature.

We provide safe, affordable, reliable, and friendly transportation to wherever you need to go..... work, shopping, school, college, out to eat, doctor appointments, etc.

Our Services

On Demand
Services

The Gogebic County Transit is an on-demand bus service.  We do not operate as a fixed route service. However, we try to have buses in different locations of our service area at various times during the day to get you where you need to go as soon as possible.

Rides to Wellness - Local

The Gogebic County Transit offers a Local Rides to Wellness Program.  This program allows our riders to schedule rides in our local area to non-emergent medical appointments.  If you do not need special accommodations, then you can use our buses to get to your non-emergent medical appointments.  If there are times when special accommodations are needed to get to your appointment, then Rides to Wellness is the way to go.

Rides to Wellness - Out of Area

The Gogebic County Transit offers an Out of Town Rides to Wellness Program.  This program allows our riders to schedule rides to non- emergent medical appointments out of town. We work with a company called Michigan Transportation Connection and they work with you to find the most cost-effective way for you to get to your out of town appointment.
